Beautiful song by Sir Victor Uwaifo. Apparently, the lyrics come from something that Uwaifo claims happened to him in the 60s.

He saw a mermaid, which he called a mami wata. She said to him, Guitar boy, if you see mammy wata, never you run away. He even says his name in the song, haha. Never run away Victor Uwaifo. It’s hilarious, and by that, I mean incredible, refreshing, etc. I call this my freedom song. There’s also a video someone uploaded of Uwaifo performing this song live, with some awesome dancing in it. This is another classic old school Nigerian song.
